{February 10, 2011}

I'm not normally a fan of headbands or bows on babies. Often they are far too large and look a bit ridiculous, even on the most adorable of babies. But this one...this one I like a lot. I forget how I came across the Etsy shop of The Girly Girl Bowtique but I fell head over heals with her custom feather bands. Knowing that I had an upcoming newborn GIRL photoshoot (yay!), I emailed Rebecca and said, "I like these...do you?" She, like me, wasn't a fan of headbands but agreed that these were quite cool. So I placed my order and eagerly awaited its arrival. Yesterday Ian brought in the mail and I was delighted to see a large, padded envelope. Inside was the feather band, and while it is much darker in person than it looks on her website (and I realize that at least one of the photos has had an action run on it, changing the colors, but some of the other pics seemed fairly true to natural coloring--and my monitor IS calibrated--so I was expecting cream colored feathers, not grayish w/orangish edges), I still think it's incredibly cute. I so can't wait to try this out on baby Kara...and meet her, period! Now if only the snow would GO AWAY for good so we can get some nice, bright sunshine thus making for beautiful photos, I would be one happy girl!
