{January 9, 2011}

After 16+ years together, I had no idea that my husband loved crepes in the way that he does. But recently he started going on and on about me making him some crepes, but given I have 1.) never made them before, and 2.) do not own a crepe pan, I wasn't able to fulfill his request (re: badgering). I guess his craving became too difficult to ignore as he started searching for a place where he could partake of crepery goodness. Knowing that I had a similar, albeit far less strong craving for bubble tea, he was quite pleased with himself when he located a small shop that sold both crepes AND bubble tea. Huzzah! Over Christmas break we made the trek to Manchester and ate at Crepes Island where we all got our fill of both crepes and bubble tea. Then, while at the grocery store, I came across pre-made crepe "shells" which somehow found their way in to my cart. I also grabbed some frozen strawberries for Megan and I, as well as some Nutella for Ryan and Ian (and me). Later Ryan picked up some cream cheese and pointed me in the direction of recipes containing this favorite item of his (seriously I think he could live off of cream cheese). Today I whipped up filling consisting of cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, fresh lemon juice and zest, and crafted Nutella and Cream Cheese crepes, Strawberry and Cream Cheese crepes, and Nutella, Strawberry, and Cream Cheese crepes--all topped with whip cream, naturally. They were a hit although I don't think they were quite as tasty as the ones from Crepes Island. Next time I plan to make a sort of bananas foster style crepe and see how that goes. Today is the photo of my crepes--of which I only ate one and gave the other to Ian as they were quite filling. Mine consisted of Nutella, Cream Cheese, and Strawberries. Yum!

{Simon}

I think I may have topped my record number of shots taken during a photoshoot with Simon, especially at the end when he crashed out on the couch in the most adorable way. He is full of spunk with great big blue eyes that peered at my inquisitively throughout the shoot. Simon probably thinks I, and his parents, are crazy with all we were doing to get smiles out of him...but he humored us and in the end we all agreed that being a super model is HARD! Simon, you are a sweetheart and Dave and Victoria, a session with you guys always leaves a big smile on my face at the end. Thanks so much for letting me capture little Simon!

{Cody + Family}

When I got an email from the lovely Jessica, I was reminded at how small the world really is. Turns out that Jessica attended a wedding I shot in Bend, OR about 6-7 years ago when we both lived out there. She eventually moved back home to New Hampshire, got married, and had a beautiful little boy named Cody. In her email she told me that she'd always loved my work, couldn't believe that I was now on the east coast, and could I come take photos of her family. I was both surprised and more than happy to oblige! At the shoot we talked about Oregon and reminisced about all of our favorite places in Bend. Her husband, Ron, cracked me up with his wonderful sense of humor--and Ron, I still love your "Good Will Hunting" accent. ;o) Cody was such a doll and adorably handsome to boot! I know I could have stayed there for hours taking pictures and chatting, but we've promised to get together again soon--and this time share a beer and maybe some football, too. Jessica, I'm so glad you "stalked my blog" all these years and truly loved capturing your family!

{The Pyatt's}

My daughter, Megan, is best friend's with a wonderful little girl named Savannah. Through her we've had the pleasure of meeting her equally wonderful family who just so happen to hail from the west coast as well. Last month we got together for a family shoot in the park next to the law school (or as Melanie puts it, "Rob's 'Home Away From Home'"). The weather was chilly, the sun was bright and high, but everyone put on their best smiles and I got some great shots. Thanks Pyatt family for being such troopers!

{Baxter + Sampson + Their People}

In my excitement to get the pictures posted yesterday, I left out two very important members of Derek and Sara's family...Baxter and Sampson. I had the photograph ready to post, however given it was a "singleton" rather than a collage, it got overlooked in the rush to post. So without further ado, I present the sweet boys already adding joy to their family's home...

{Derek + Sara}

Derek and Sara were so much fun to work with {and I LOVED Sara's gorgeous red hair and stunning blue eyes}! They both had a great sense of humor which made the sitting both enjoyable and relaxing. Sara and Derek, it was great to work with you both and thank you for letting me be a part of this awesome adventure!

{Fowl}

Roaming our property are six crazy guineas and five Muscovy ducks, all of whom provide a lot of laughs {and poop}, and love to follow us around. So I felt I should include them since they're a big part of our family.

They were not happy about me being in the woods...at all

 Spencer really wanted that bug, but it was {just} out of his reach

{More from my world}

Today's theme is water. Given how much rain we've gotten recently, seems fitting.

{Around my house}

After reading some amazing photojournalists blogs, I got inspired to photograph things I found around my property. I broke out my 24-70mm Macro lens, looked up, looked down, looked sideways, and everywhere in between. Needless to say, I had a blast! I've decided to do this more often and feature them on here as sort of a "Shot of the Day" sort of thing. Sometimes I may only have one picture, other days I may add several. We'll see how it goes.
