Nothing super special tonight, just the lamp that sits next to me so that I can see. Apparently the older I get the more light I need (and I still squint from time to time). This shot is of the base of the lamp which has a "rustic" patina to it. It's small thus allowing it to fit perfectly amongst the chaos. I dig it.

On either side of our basement doors, there are two walls made of various sizes of boulders and rocks. One is only about 3.5' tall, but the other is well over 8' high. Our ducks and guineas love to perch on top of the highest peak and look out in to the woods. The kids enjoy teetering on the edge of the rocks and walking along them, giving me a heart attack whenever I catch them. I, of course, think they are beautiful and love how they frame the large, wide-plank wooden basement doors. In this photo it appears as if there is a nest amongst the boulders, however it's just a pile of pine needles and leaves. However, I wouldn't be surprised if critters live inside the spaces scattered throughout.

It's 9:13 p.m., my day literally flew by, Ian had a concert tonight, and I've been battling a raging headache on top of it all. So when I got home and realized I'd forgotten to take a photo for Project 365, I grabbed my iPhone and snapped this picture of one of my new favorite hats. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with it simply because I wish I could actually knit a hat like this, and I have patterns for knitting a hat like this, yet I don't think I'm good enough to knit a hat like this. Until such time as I get better at knitting, I'll just chunk down my hard earned cash and buy hats that look as if I actually made it myself...yet readily admit I didn't because I just can't lie about that sort of stuff.

Kya does this thing where she "protects" people's feet. Sometimes that means she sits, straddling your feet with a paw on either side, and other times it means she lays down with both legs extended on either side of your feet. Either way it's both indelibly cute and incredibly annoying, for if you move your feet, even by a mere inch or two, she will follow them. I do not know why she does this but if your feet are anywhere near the ground, or air (as in hanging off the edge of the couch), she'll be there...guarding them from real or imagined bad things.

I've been feeling under the weather for the past couple of days, and thus not very inspired to get out and shoot, but not wanting to miss a day I snapped this one about 10 minutes ago. So tonight I present to you...my chandelier (again). I think I've discussed previously that this chandelier replaced a...how shall I say it..."quaint" lighting fixture which featured metal strawberries and "candles." We definitely like this one much better.

Megan and Kya cuddling on Megan's bed. Seriously, how sweet are they?! And full disclosure--I took this photo last summer but not only do I adore this one, I'm longing for warmer days and sunshine streaming through the windows again. This pic makes me think of happier, sunnier, cuddly times.

Today I'm cheating a bit (although I've read there really aren't any rules in Project 365) as I took this photo over the summer. My computer is still down which means I'm stuck using my iPhone, but I truly love this picture and want to share it. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers and I've longed to have huge bushes of them scattered around our landscaping. The last house we lived in--back in Portland--had beautiful, large hydrangea bushes in shades of blue, green, and pink. Every time I drove up I was greeted with big, vibrant blossoms that always brought a smile to my face. Naturally, when we bought this house one of the many things I planned to do was buy some hydrangeas and plant them so that the they were the first thing I, or anyone else, saw when pulling up to our home. While out at Lowe's one day I found some, already in bloom, brought them home, and placed them in the ground. I envisioned them growing over the months and years and wondered if the plants would give any other colors than the azure ones already on the stems. Of course I snapped some pics throughout the process, not realizing how glad I'd be that I did so at the time. Not long after I planted my beloved hydrangeas a freak cold snap came through and froze all of them...killing them in the process. I was so sad but I'm holding out hope that by some miracle they'll come back in the spring. In the meantime, I make do with this photo which also serves as the background for my iPhone so I can see it everyday.
